Southern California gas prices increased for the seventh week in a row in most areas but the pace has slowed for the last couple of weeks, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California's Weekend Gas Watch. The state average is $4.008 a gallon for regular today, two cents more than last week.

The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $4.077 per gallon, which is 1.6 cents more than last week, 14 cents higher than last month, and one penny lower than last year. In San Diego, the average price is $4.044, which is 2.1 cents above last week, 12 cents higher than last month, and 2 cents lower than last year. On the Central Coast, the average price is $4.086, up 1.7 cents from last week, 15 cents higher than a month ago, and 7 cents less than last year. In the Inland Empire, the average per-gallon price is $4.031, up 1.7 cents from last week, 12 cents more than last month, and 2 cents less than last year.

“In Los Angeles, the gas price average has risen 47 cents from its lowest 2014 point of $3.607 a gallon on Jan. 31,” said Auto Club spokesman Jeffrey Spring. “Traditionally, gas prices tend to rise in the spring before peaking sometime in May. However, we don’t see any upward pressure from wholesale prices for continued increases at this time.”

The Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline. As of 9 a.m. on April 3, averages are:
