Gas prices in most Southern California regions declined by about a penny over the last week, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California’s Weekend Gas Watch. Today’s retail statewide average is $3.21 a gallon for regular unleaded, one cent lower than last week.
The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $3.20 per gallon, which is one cent lower than last week, three cents lower than a month ago, and 95 cents lower than last year. In San Diego, the average price is $3.19, which is one cent lower than last Thursday, four cents more than last month, and 92 cents lower than last year.
On the Central Coast, the average price is $3.22, which is once cent lower than last week, three cents lower than last month, and 89 cents lower than last year. In Riverside, the average per-gallon price is $3.15, which is one cent lower than last week, three cents lower than last month, and 92 cents lower than last year. In Bakersfield, the $3.17 average price is two cents higher than last week, one cent higher than last month, and 78 cents lower than a year ago today.
“A year ago at this time, Southland motorists were paying over $4 a gallon on average for regular unleaded because of reported massive damage from an explosion at the Torrance refinery,” said Auto Club spokesman Jeffrey Spring.
The Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline. As of 9 a.m. on Oct. 1, averages are:
