Local wholesale price drops have finally brought a little gas price relief in many areas of Southern California, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California's Weekend Gas Watch. The retail state average is $4.128 a gallon for regular today, 1.2 cents less than last week.
The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $4.164 per gallon, which is 1.6 cents less than last week, 2.1 cents more than last month, and 13 cents higher than last year. In San Diego, the average price is $4.133, which is 1.8 cents less than last week, 2.8 cents higher than last month, and 11 cents higher than last year. On the Central Coast, the average price is $4.173, unchanged from last week, 1.7 cents higher than a month ago, and 10.5 cents more than last year. In the Inland Empire, the average per-gallon price is $4.137, down seven-tenths of a cent from last week, 3.8 cents more than last month, and 12.6 cents more than last year.
“Wholesale gasoline prices have dropped locally by more than 30 cents a gallon in the last two weeks, indicating a more steady fuel supply,” said Auto Club spokesman Jeffrey Spring. “If this trend holds, we can expect to see more drops at the pump.”
