Southern California drivers saw a pause or slight decline in prices when they filled up during the last week, and so far prices are unaffected by the second power-related outage at the Torrance refinery in the last month, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California's Weekend Gas Watch. The retail state average is $2.785 a gallon for regular today, one cent less than last Thursday.
The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $2.833 per gallon, which is 2.5 cents lower than last week, a nickel higher than last month, and 19 cents lower than last year. In San Diego, the average price is $2.813, which is eight-tenths of one cent lower than last week, six cents higher than last month, and 15 cents less than this time last year. On the Central Coast, the average price is $2.828, 1.7 cents less than last week, five cents higher than a month ago, and 18 cents less than last year. In the Inland Empire, the average per-gallon price is $2.771, four-tenths of a cent less than last week, six cents more than last month, and 17 cents less than last year.
“Wholesale and rack gasoline prices moved down on Wednesday despite Tuesday’s Southern California Edison power outage affecting the operation of the Torrance refinery now owned by PBF Energy,” said Auto Club spokesman Jeffrey Spring. “A PBF spokesperson said that despite the outage, the refinery will continue to be able to meet its production obligations.”
