While gas prices moved very little throughout Southern California this past week, they are still the lowest for any Halloween holiday since 2006, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California's Weekend Gas Watch. The retail state average is $2.77 a gallon for regular today, nine-tenths of a cent less than last Thursday.
The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $2.826 per gallon, which is 1.5 cents lower than last week, four cents higher than last month, and 11 cents lower than last year. In San Diego, the average price is $2.806, which is 1.1 cents lower than last week, four cents higher than last month, and seven cents less than this time last year. On the Central Coast, the average price is $2.842, 2.1 cents more than last week, four cents higher than a month ago, and 10 cents less than last year. In the Inland Empire, the average per-gallon price is $2.762, seven-tenths of a cent less than last week, four cents more than last month, and 11 cents less than last year.
“The last time that drivers paid lower gas prices on Halloween was in 2006, when Southland gas prices averaged between $2.40 and $2.45 a gallon,” said Auto Club spokesman Jeffrey Spring. “The less expensive winter blend of gasoline will start being sold at local pumps as early as five days from now, so hopefully we will see some more definitive downward movement for gas prices.”
The Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline. As of 9 a.m. on Oct. 27, averages are:
