YourHome Advantage provides Guaranteed Replacement Cost coverage to rebuild your home in the event of a covered loss. YourHome Advantage also has additional coverage that will pay up to $25,000 to repair or replace covered property with equivalent property that meets environmentally responsible and energy-efficient standards. In addition, YourHome Advantage provides a claims deductible waiver and identity fraud expense coverage.
“More building materials are being produced to be friendlier to the environment, and our members can now take advantage of those products when we repair or replace damage to their home,” said Chris Baggaley, senior vice president of insurance operations.
For its Green coverage, the YourHome Advantage package will use the following to replace damaged or destroyed property:
- Energy-Star qualified appliances, light fixtures and bulbs, windows, doors, skylights, insulation, roof products
- Low volatile organic compound (VOC) paints, sealants and adhesives
- Carpet and carpet cushion that meets the Carpet and Rug Institute’s low VOC emissions standards;
- Solar water heaters replaced with hyper-efficient devices
- Plumbing fixtures approved by the Federal Energy Management program
A second new package, YourHome, offers homeowners basic coverage with Extended Replacement Cost coverage of up to a limit of 125% of the policy amount for the home, and also provides replacement cost coverage for personal property without a deduction for depreciation.
Both packages can be further customized with an endorsement to cover a home office which provides additional limits on computers and other electronic equipment and other business property. A second optional endorsement includes increased limits for valuables, landscaping and personal liability coverage.
“Homeowners today want more options when selecting insurance coverage,” added Baggaley. “Some are looking for basic coverage for their home and property. Others prefer more comprehensive coverage and our two new packages provide them with a broader range of options.”
Qualified members who select either of the YourHome packages can also receive several premium discounts. These include discounts for: fire resistant roofing, smoke detectors, fire alarms, coverage for a home less than ten years old, multi-policy, single-story homes, and being a homeowner 50 years of age or older.
