The 6th annual Teen Party Expo, a celebration of youth, cultural diversity and where the Automobile Club of Southern California will host a teen driver safety booth, is scheduled for noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 2.
The family event is returning to the Los Angeles Convention Center and is designed for teens preparing for their Quinceanera, sweet 16 parties, cotillion, bar/bat mitzvahs and proms. It’s also an opportunity to gather teen driver preparedness information from the Auto Club. Motor vehicle crashes remain the number one killer of teen drivers across the nation, according to the Auto Club.
Thousands of teen-agers and their families are expected at the convention center, Petree Hall, 1201 S. Figueroa St. The event is open to the public with pre-sale tickets $15, and $20 at the door.
“Coming of age” celebrations are observed all over the world. Event organizers say that they’ll be transforming the convention center into a young, cool and hip environment with celebrities, red carpet experiences, live music with teen bands, fashion shows and other activities.
Auto Club representatives will host teen driver safety educational activities with DUI “fatal vision goggles” and distracted diving activities to help teens understand the risks and dangers in their early years of driving. “We will also have a teen driver safety ‘spin wheel’ in which teens can answer driving-related questions and earn prizes,” according to the Auto Club’s Manager of Community Affairs and Traffic Safety Programs Anita Lorz Villagrana.
Other official event sponsors include Boost Mobile, Hoy, KIIS-FM, Knott’s Berry Farm, 96.3 Latino, 97.1 AMP Radio, Friar Tux Shop Kababayan LA, Univision, , WDC (Wedding Design Center), WSS and others.
