Additional Southern California refinery issues along with supply challenges in Northern California and the Pacific Northwest have combined to continue double-digit gas price increases for a second week, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California's Weekend Gas Watch. The retail statewide average is $3.68 a gallon for regular unleaded, which is 11 cents higher than last week.

The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $3.76 per gallon, which is 12 cents higher than last week, 41 cents higher than last month, and 18 cents higher than last year. In San Diego, the average price is $3.70, which is up 12 cents from last Thursday, 39 cents higher than last month, and 16 cents higher than this time last year. On the Central Coast, the average price is $3.76, which is 13 cents higher than last week, 41 cents higher than last month, and 18 cents higher than last year. In Riverside, the average per-gallon price is $3.66, which is 12 cents higher than last week, 40 cents higher than last month, and 16 cents higher than last year. In San Bernardino, the $3.68 average price is 13 cents higher than last week, 38 cents higher than last month, and 18 cents higher than a year ago today.

“Refineries in Wilmington and Carson reported unplanned flaring as a result of breakdowns last weekend, according to Oil Price Information Service (OPIS),” said Auto Club spokesman Jeffrey Spring. “OPIS also reports that operations have not yet recovered for Phillips 66 after the March 16 fire at the company’s Carson refinery. Some Northern California and Pacific Northwest refineries are dealing with planned and unplanned maintenance also, making for a tight gasoline supply throughout the West Coast.”

The Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline. As of 9 a.m. on April 4, averages are:
