Gas prices in Southern California showed a bigger increase over the past week compared to the prior week period, with averages rising between 3 and 5 cents a gallon, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California’s Weekend Gas Watch.
The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $3.15 per gallon, which is 4.5 cents more than last week, 5.8 cents higher than last month, and nearly 80 cents higher than last year. In San Diego, the price is $3.162, which is 3.8 cents more than last week’s price, 5.6 cents above last month, and 79 cents higher than last year. On the Central Coast, the average price is $3.216, 3.2 cents more than last week, 5.2 cents higher than a month ago, and 77 cents above last year. In the Inland Empire, the average per gallon price is $3.139, which is 3.7 cents more than last week, 3.9 cents more than last month, and 79 cents more than last year.
“California gas prices continue to remain relatively stable, especially for the spring, when prices have typically increased at higher levels,” said Auto Club spokesperson Jeffrey Spring. “Thirteen states now have gas price averages above $3 a gallon. However, the price of oil dropped to below $80 a barrel today, so we’ll have to see if that has an impact on gas prices going forward.”
