Southern California gas prices declined very slightly in most areas during the past week, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California's Weekend Gas Watch. The retail state average is $2.783 a gallon for regular today, 1.7 cents less than last Thursday.
The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $2.885 per gallon, which is 1.4 cents lower than last week, four cents higher than last month, and six cents lower than last year. In San Diego, the average price is $2.863, which is half a cent lower than last week, five cents higher than last month, and 2.5 cents less than this time last year. On the Central Coast, the average price is $2.865, two cents less than last week, five cents higher than a month ago, and seven cents less than last year. In the Inland Empire, the average per-gallon price is $2.819, three-tenths of one cent less than last week, five cents more than last month, and five cents less than last year.
“Los Angeles wholesale and rack gasoline prices have both fallen sharply over the last week, indicating that earlier supply issues are apparently resolved, but pump prices have been slow to follow suit so far,” said Auto Club spokesman Jeffrey Spring. “If this trend holds, we should see some hefty price declines for drivers before they fuel up for their Thanksgiving holiday trips.”
The Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline. As of 9 a.m. on Nov. 10, averages are:
