Gas prices in a few areas of Southern California are within a dime of being at their lowest levels of the year after 11 weeks of price drops, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California's Weekend Gas Watch. The retail state average is $3.718 a gallon for regular today, 4 cents less than last week.
The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $3.732 per gallon, which is 3.8 cents less than last week,11 cents less than last month, and 26 cents lower than last year. In San Diego, the average price is $3.724, which is 3.3 cents less than last week, 11 cents lower than last month, and 25 cents lower than last year. On the Central Coast, the average price is $3.756, 4.5 cents less than last week, 16 cents lower than a month ago, and 29 cents less than last year. In the Inland Empire, the average per-gallon price is $3.685, down 3.9 cents from last week, 13 cents less than last month, and 27 cents less than last year.
“Gas price averages were $3.59 or $3.60 a gallon in most areas at the end of January, which was the lowest price of the year so far,” said Auto Club spokesperson Marie Montgomery. “It’s uncertain whether today’s announcement of the bombing of ISIS-controlled oil refineries in Iraq will have an impact on local prices.”
The Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline. As of 9 a.m. on Sept. 25, averages are:
