Following a big jump in prices two weeks ago, gas prices have flattened over the past week, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California's Weekend Gas Watch. The retail statewide average is $3.63 a gallon for regular unleaded, which is one cent lower than last week.
The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $3.67 per gallon, which is down one cent than last week, six cents higher than a month ago, and the same as last year. In San Diego, the average price is $3.64, which is unchanged from last Friday, one cent higher than last month, and even with last year. On the Central Coast, the average price is $3.73, which is the same price as last week, four cents higher than last month, and three cents higher than last year. In Riverside, the average per-gallon price is $3.58, which is one cent lower than last week, five cents higher than last month, and two cents higher than last year. In San Bernardino, the $3.62 average price is unchanged from last week, six cents higher than last month, and three cents higher than a year ago today.
"There has been talk about flaring at Chevron’s El Segundo plant, but the incident hasn’t had an impact on retail prices to date,” said Auto Club spokesman Jeffrey Spring. “The Auto Club recommends that car owners shop around for the lowest price and driving moderately to conserve gasoline.”
