After a brief pause, Southern California gas price averages dropped slightly during the past week in most areas, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California's Weekend Gas Watch. The retail statewide average is $2.92 a gallon for regular unleaded, one cent less than a week ago.
The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $2.91 per gallon, which is one cent less than last week, 11 cents below last month, and one cent lower than last year. In San Diego, the average price is $2.89, which is one cent below last week, 10 cents less than last month, and a penny less than this time last year. On the Central Coast, the average price is $2.96, one penny above last week, nine cents lower than last month, and one cent lower than last year. In the Inland Empire, the average per-gallon price is $2.86, which is down one cent from last week, 11 cents less than last month, and two cents less than at this time last year.
“The underlying prices that gas stations pay for fuel have dropped in the last week as supplies have apparently remained steady,” said Auto Club spokesman Jeffrey Spring. “To make sure you’re not overpaying to fill up as gas prices come down, download the free AAA Mobile App app to virtually shop for the cheapest gas prices near your location.”
