Southern California gas prices continue to inch downward, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California’s Weekend Gas Watch. Today’s retail statewide average is $3.19 a gallon for regular unleaded, which is one cent lower than last week.
The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $3.18 per gallon, which is one cent lower than last week, four cents lower than a month ago, and 98 cents lower than last year. In San Diego, the average price is $3.18, which is the same as last Thursday, three cents less than last month, and 93 cents lower than last year.
On the Central Coast, the average price is $3.21, which is one cent lower than last week, one cent lower than last month, and 99 cents lower than last year. In Riverside, the average per-gallon price is $3.13, which is one cent lower than last week, three cents lower than last month, and 96 cents lower than last year. In Bakersfield, the $3.14 average price is one cent less than last week, two cents lower than last month, and 98 cents lower than a year ago today.
“In a little more than a week, Southern California gas stations will be allowed to start selling the cheaper-to-produce ‘winter blend’ of gasoline,” said Auto Club spokesman Jeffrey Spring. “That could help to drive gas prices down at a faster pace.”
The Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline. As of 9 a.m. on Oct. 22, averages are:
