Southern California gas prices continued their spring surging streak but there are signs that fuel supplies are increasing, which could slow down further price hikes, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California’s Weekend Gas Watch. Today’s retail statewide average is $4.12 a gallon for regular unleaded, which is five cents higher than last week.

The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $4.17 per gallon, which is four cents higher than last week, 19 cents higher than last month, and $1.31 higher than last year. In San Diego, the average price is $4.14, which is four cents higher than last week, 16 cents more than than last month, and $1.34 higher than last year.

On the Central Coast, the average price is $4.12, which is three cents higher than last week, 17 cents higher than last month, and $1.22 higher than last year.  In Riverside, the average per-gallon price is $4.08, which is four cents higher than last week, 16 cents higher than last month, and $1.36 higher than last year. In Bakersfield, the $4.01 average price is four cents higher than last week, 16 cents higher than last month, and $1.46 higher than a year ago today.

“Yesterday’s California Energy Commission petroleum report showed an increase in both California fuel production and gasoline inventories for the first time in a few weeks,” said Auto Club spokesman Jeffrey Spring. “If that trend continues, we should see prices begin to taper off. The Colonial pipeline shutdown affecting southern and eastern states should have no impact on California gasoline supplies.”

The Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline. As of 9 a.m. on May 13, averages are:
