Gas Prices Continue Dropping In Most Areas

Gas prices continued to drop in most areas of Southern California over the past week, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California's Weekend Gas Watch. The retail statewide average is $3.73 a gallon for regular unleaded, which is two cents lower than last week.
 
The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $3.75 per gallon, which is three cents lower than last week, three cents lower than last month, and 10 cents higher than last year. In San Diego, the average price is $3.73, which is unchanged from last Thursday, four cents below last month, and 10 cents higher than this time last year. On the Central Coast, the average price is $3.81, which is three cents less than last week, seven cents lower than last month, and nine cents higher than last year. In Riverside, the average per-gallon price is $3.65, which is two cents lower than last week, five cents lower than last month, and eight cents higher than last year. In San Bernardino, the $3.70 average price is unchanged from last Thursday, six cents lower than last month, and 10 cents higher than a year ago today.

"There are reports of ample supply in the Southern California fuel market, which should continue to push down prices in the near future,” said Auto Club spokesman Jeffrey Spring. "Oil prices have also dropped recently and if that trend continues, it could help reduce prices at the pump.”
