Gas prices are continuing a rare March and April slump and are now down about to the same point they were at before the February spike, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California's Weekend Gas Watch. The state average is $3.919 a gallon for regular today – 4.3 cents lower than last week.
The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $3.932 per gallon, which is 5.6 cents less than last week, 19 cents lower than last month, and 27 cents lower than last year. In San Diego, the average price is $3.906, which is 6.3 cents below last week, 17 cents below last month, and 29 cents lower than last year. On the Central Coast, the average price is $4.016, down 4.9 cents from last week, 15 cents lower than a month ago, and 23 cents less than last year. In the Inland Empire, the average per-gallon price is $3.915, down 5.6 cents from last week, 17 cents lower than last month, and 27 cents less than last year.
“It’s great to experience price declines in the spring instead of spikes, but only now are we seeing the same prices we had before the February spike,” said Auto Club spokesperson Jeffrey Spring. “And news reports indicate a few potential clouds on the horizon, as gasoline stockpiles in Southern California reportedly have been dropping in recent days and there are reports of additional required refinery maintenance.”
The Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline. As of 9 a.m. on April 25, averages are:
