Southern California gas prices are now at their second highest level ever for June, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California’s Weekend Gas Watch. Today’s retail statewide average is $4.22 a gallon for regular unleaded, which is one cent higher than last week.
The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $4.25 per gallon, which is two cents higher than last week, 10 cents higher than last month, and $1.25 higher than last year. In San Diego, the average price is $4.22, which is two cents higher than last week, nine cents more than last month, and $1.22 higher than last year.
On the Central Coast, the average price is $4.21, which is two cents higher than last week, nine cents higher than last month, and $1.18 higher than last year. In Riverside, the average per-gallon price is $4.17, which is two cents higher than last week, 13 cents higher than last month, and $1.24 higher than last year. In Bakersfield, the $4.11 average price is three cents higher than last week, 10 cents higher than last month, and $1.25 higher than a year ago today.
“Oil Price Information Service reports more imported fuel is arriving into California and refineries have almost wrapped up their planned maintenance, so those factors should push down pump prices soon,” said Auto Club spokesman Jeffrey Spring. “However, price averages are now at their second highest levels for June, about 20 cents lower than in 2008 when the Los Angeles price average was $4.47 a gallon.”
