(BURBANK, Feb. 15, 2011) – The anti-theft vehicle etching event scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 16 at the Automobile Club of Southern California’s Burbank branch has been postponed due to rain.
The event will be rescheduled and the new date will be announced shortly.
The event involves etching cars' vehicle identification numbers (VINs) onto vehicle windows to make them a less likely target for car theft. Car window VIN etchings are small, but visible enough to deter thieves, according to law enforcement officials.
The Auto Club, Burbank Police Dept., the California Highway Patrol Southern Division and National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) will co-host the event in the Burbank branch parking lot, 1111 W. Alameda Ave., when it is rescheduled. They also will offer theft prevention as well as vehicle burglary prevention tips to car owners.
