Southern California gas prices stayed within a penny of last week’s levels in most cities, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California's Weekend Gas Watch. The retail statewide average is $3.32 a gallon for regular unleaded, one cent lower than last Thursday.
The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $3.42 per gallon, which is one cent lower than last week, 14 cents higher than last month, and 43 cents higher than last year. In San Diego, the average price is $3.40, which is unchanged from a week ago, 16 cents more than last month, and 44 cents more than this time last year. On the Central Coast, the average price is $3.40, which is two cents higher than last Thursday, 15 cents higher than last month, and 41 cents higher than last year. In Riverside, the average per-gallon price is $3.36, which is one cent lower last week, 16 cents more than last month, and 44 cents more than at this time last year.
“Los Angeles wholesale fuel prices moved back upward late last week, leaving little room for prices to drop at the pump,” said Auto Club spokesman Jeffrey Spring. “However, California refineries are reporting inventories of summer-blend gasoline at the highest levels in five years.”
