Southern California gas prices dropped in the last week along with much of the rest of the U.S., according to the Automobile Club of Southern California's Weekend Gas Watch. The retail statewide average is $3.33 a gallon for regular unleaded, three cents lower than last Thursday.
The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $3.43 per gallon, which is three cents lower than last week, 18 cents higher than last month, and 45 cents higher than last year. In San Diego, the average price is $3.40, which is three cents lower than a week ago, 19 cents more than last month, and 46 cents more than this time last year. On the Central Coast, the average price is $3.38, which is three cents lower than last Thursday, 15 cents higher than last month, and 46 cents higher than last year. In Riverside, the average per-gallon price is $3.37, which is two cents lower last week, 19 cents more than last month, and 46 cents more than at this time last year.
“News of growing gasoline and crude oil inventories has pushed down gas prices nationwide, and at the moment, local wholesale prices have dropped enough to hopefully continue that trend in the near future,” said Auto Club spokesman Jeffrey Spring. “Motorists should remember that when prices are dropping, it’s important to shop around to make sure they are not overpaying for gas by using tools such as the free AAA app.”
