Gas prices in many local areas dipped slightly over the last week – the first week-over-week price drops of the year, according to the Auto Club’s Weekend Gas Watch. The average price for self-serve regular gasoline in California is $4.39, which is one cent lower than last week. The average national price is $3.58, down three cents from a week ago.
The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $4.39 per gallon, which is unchanged from last week, three cents higher than last month, and $1.18 higher than last year. In San Diego, the average price is $4.34, down two cents from than last week, two cents more than last month, and $1.12 higher than last year.
On the Central Coast, the average price is $4.34, which is the same as last week, three cents higher than last month, and $1.10 higher than last year. In Riverside, the average per-gallon price is $4.31, which is one cent lower than last week, three cents higher than last month, and $1.14 higher than last year. In Bakersfield, the $4.34 average price is one cent lower than last week, three cents higher than last month, and $1.20 higher than a year ago today.
“While prices are down in some areas compared to last week primarily because of lower oil costs, unfortunately Southern California prices began rising again in the last couple of days due to a one-day outage at the Chevron refinery in El Segundo,” said Auto Club spokesman Jeffrey Spring.
