Southern California drivers have a little more to spend on holiday festivities after six straight weeks of gas price drops, according to the Auto Club’s Weekend Gas Watch. The average price for self-serve regular gasoline in California is $4.31, which is three cents lower than a week ago and 28 cents lower than a year ago today. The average national price is $3.04, which is two cents higher than a week ago.
The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $4.36 per gallon, which is three cents less than last week and 35 cents less than last year. In San Diego, the average price is $4.44, which is three cents less than last week and 32 cents lower than this time last year.
On the Central Coast, the average price is $4.39, which is one cent lower than last week and 31 cents lower than last year. In Riverside, the average per-gallon price is $4.25, which is three cents lower than last week and 30 cents lower than a year ago. In Bakersfield, the $4.28 average price is two cents less than last week and 52 cents lower than a year ago today.
“Southern California gas prices have dropped to their lowest point since July 2021, just as a record 9.9 million local residents get ready to hit the roads and skies for year-end holiday getaways,” said Auto Club spokesperson Doug Shupe.
