Gas prices posted small drops in some areas but largely remained unchanged in Southern California for a second week, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California's Weekend Gas Watch. The retail statewide average is $3.73 a gallon for regular unleaded, a penny lower than last Thursday.
The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $3.76 per gallon, which is unchanged for a second week, eight cents more than last month, and 71 cents higher than last year. In San Diego, the average price is $3.75, which is one cent less than last Thursday, nine cents more than last month, and 73 cents higher than this time last year. On the Central Coast, the average price is $3.81, which is unchanged from last week, 13 cents higher than last month, and 72 cents higher than last year. In Riverside, the average per-gallon price is $3.70, which is the same for the second week in a row, nine cents higher than last month, and 71 cents more than at this time last year.
“Oil prices have dropped in the last couple of weeks as local gasoline supplies have risen, setting up conditions for pump prices to drop, but that hasn’t happened yet in most areas,” said Auto Club spokesman Jeffrey Spring. “In the meantime, consumers should shop around aggressively for lower gasoline prices using tools like the free AAA app.”
The Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline. As of 9 a.m. on June 7, averages are:
