Southern California gas prices moved lower in all major metro areas surveyed, according to the Auto Club’s Weekend Gas Watch. The average price for self-serve regular gasoline in California is $4.60, which is four cents less than a week ago. The average national price is $3.45, which is three cents lower than a week ago.
The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $4.57 per gallon, which is a nickel lower than last week and 59 cents less than last year. In San Diego, the average price is $4.68, which is five cents lower than last week and 45 cents lower than this time last year.
On the Central Coast, the average price is $4.70, which is seven cents lower than last week and 41 cents lower than last year. In Riverside, the average per-gallon price is $4.49, which is six cents less than last week and 55 cents lower than a year ago. In Bakersfield, the average price is $4.65, which is seven cents less than last week and 34 cents lower than a year ago today.
“One of the biggest factors in the prices we pay at the pump is the price of oil,” said Auto Club spokesperson Doug Shupe. “As crude oil costs have moved lower, so too have the prices at the pump, and if this trend continues, Southern California drivers may pay the lowest to fill up for Labor Day road trips since 2021.”
