Gas prices moved very little this past week, although new reports of high gasoline inventory could start pushing them downward again in coming days, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California's Weekend Gas Watch. Today’s retail statewide average is $3.53 a gallon for regular unleaded, which is one cent lower than last week.
The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $3.60 per gallon, which is one cent lower than last week, eight cents lower than a month ago, and 31 cents higher than last year. In San Diego, the average price is $3.59, which is one cent lower than last Thursday, eight cents less than last month, and 34 cents higher than last year. On the Central Coast, the average price is $3.64, which is two cents lower than last week, 13 cents lower than last month, and 31 cents higher than last year. In Riverside, the average per-gallon price is $3.50, which is one cent lower than last week, seven cents lower than last month, and 33 cents higher than last year. In San Bernardino, the $3.57 average price is one cent lower than last week, eight cents lower than last month, and 34 cents higher than a year ago today.
“On Wednesday, the Energy Information Administration reported that West Coast gasoline inventories are at their highest level in more than a year, and that may bring more price drops provided there are no major refinery incidents in coming weeks,” said Auto Club spokesman Jeffrey Spring.
The Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline. As of 9 a.m. on Jan. 16, averages are:
