Gas prices in most Southern California areas have moved up for the second straight week, according to the Auto Club’s Weekend Gas Watch. The average price for self-serve regular gasoline in California is $4.35, which is one cent higher than a week ago and 35 cents lower than a year ago today. The average national price is $3.06, which is two cents higher than a week ago.
The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $4.41 per gallon, which is one cent more than last week and 35 cents less than last year. In San Diego, the average price is $4.49, which is one cent more than last week and 28 cents lower than this time last year.
On the Central Coast, the average price is $4.42, which is two cents higher than last week and 32 cents lower than last year. In Riverside, the average per-gallon price is $4.29, which is two cents higher than last week and 31 cents lower than a year ago. In Bakersfield, the $4.30 average price is three cents more than last week and 49 cents lower than a year ago today.
“The California state gas price average for all of 2024 was $4.76 a gallon, which is the third highest annual average price ever behind the 2022 average price of $5.48 and the 2023 average of $4.95,” said Auto Club spokesperson Doug Shupe. “The Los Angeles annual average price for 2024 was $4.75 for regular unleaded, and in San Diego it was $4.80.”
