Auto Club: Gas Prices Tick Downward In Most Areas

CA GAS WATCH

Southern California gas prices dropped slightly in most areas during the past week, according to the Auto Club’s Weekend Gas Watch. The average price for self-serve regular gasoline in California is $4.66, which is five cents lower than a week ago. The average national price is $3.19, which is three cents lower than a week ago.

The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $4.54 per gallon, which is two cents less than last week and $1.70 less than last year. In San Diego, the average price is $4.62, which is three cents lower than last week and $1.57 lower than this time last year.

On the Central Coast, the average price is $4.64, which is three cents lower than last week and $1.47 lower than last year. In Riverside, the average per-gallon price is $4.39, which is three cents lower than last week and $1.67 lower than a year ago. In Bakersfield, the $4.60 average price is one cent more than last week and $1.28 lower than a year ago today.

“One year ago at this time, Southern Californians were paying over $6 a gallon for fuel as a result of a supply crisis that ended when the state allowed early sales of winter blend gasoline,” said Auto Club spokesperson Doug Shupe. “That supply crisis did not occur this year, and prices are more than $1.50 a gallon lower in most areas than in October 2023.”

The Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline. As of 9 a.m. on Oct. 3, averages are:
