Southern California gas price drops slowed to less than a penny a day during their tenth straight week of declines, according to the Auto Club’s Weekend Gas Watch. The average price for self-serve regular gasoline in California is $5.30, which is three cents lower than last week. The average national price is $3.88, which is five cents lower than a week ago.
The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $5.31 per gallon, which is four cents lower than last week, 47 cents lower than last month, and 92 cents higher than last year. In San Diego, the average price is $5.27, which is four cents lower than last week, 43 cents lower than last month, and 93 cents higher than last year.
On the Central Coast, the average price is $5.46, which is three cents lower than last week, 34 cents lower than last month and $1.13 higher than last year. “Average gas prices are still 60 cents a gallon higher than their all-time records prior to this year, so it’s unlikely they will drop below previous historic levels unless we see pump price drops start accelerating again,” said Auto Club spokesperson Doug Shupe. “The cheapest gas prices in Southern California today are in the $4.60-$4.70 range.
