Gas prices in most Southern California areas rose for the third straight week, according to the Auto Club’s Weekend Gas Watch. The average price for self-serve regular gasoline in California is $4.38 which is three cents higher than a week ago and 27 cents lower than a year ago today. The average national price is $3.06, which is the same as a week ago.
The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $4.45 per gallon, which is four cents more than last week and 25 cents less than last year. In San Diego, the average price is $4.51, which is two cents more than last week and 22 cents lower than this time last year.
On the Central Coast, the average price is $4.41, which is one cent lower than last week and 28 cents lower than last year. In Riverside, the average per-gallon price is $4.32, which is three cents higher than last week and 24 cents lower than a year ago. In Bakersfield, the $4.26 average price is four cents less than last week and 48 cents lower than a year ago today.
“Oil Price Information Service (OPIS) reports that gasoline inventories in local refineries are higher, but refineries are preparing to enter their annual maintenance season when production capacity will be lower,” said Auto Club spokesperson Doug Shupe. “OPIS also reported that Southern California refineries stated that the wildfires have so far posed no imminent threat to operations.”
