Local gas prices continue to hover 10 to 15 cents below their highest levels of 2018, moving very little in the past week, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California's Weekend Gas Watch. The retail statewide average is $3.62 a gallon for regular unleaded, which is unchanged for the second straight week.
The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $3.64 per gallon, which is unchanged for two weeks in a row, three cents lower than last month, and 66 cents higher than last year. In San Diego, the average price is $3.61, which is one penny lower than last Thursday, four cents less than last month, and 65 cents higher than this time last year. On the Central Coast, the average price is $3.72, which is a penny higher than last week, a penny lower than last month, and 69 cents higher than last year. In Riverside, the average per-gallon price is $3.54, which is one cent lower than last week, five cents lower than last month, and 65 cents more than at this time last year.
“Los Angeles wholesale gasoline prices took a sharp downward turn Wednesday as the gasoline futures market dipped due to investor worries of lower demand and ample supply in coming months,” said Auto Club spokesman Jeffrey Spring. “It’s not yet a trend, but if it continues, local motorists could finally see some relief at the pump.”
