Southern California gasoline prices barely moved for the second straight week in most areas, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California's Weekend Gas Watch. The retail statewide average is $3.64 a gallon for regular unleaded, which is one cent higher than last week.
The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $3.67 per gallon, which is unchanged for the second week in a row, five cents higher than last month, and 50 cents higher than last year. In San Diego, the average price is $3.64, which is unchanged from last Thursday, five cents higher than last month, and 51 cents higher than this time last year. On the Central Coast, the average price is $3.70, which is unchanged for a second week, also unchanged from last month, and 53 cents higher than last year. In Riverside, the average per-gallon price is $3.55, which is one cent lower than last week, five cents higher than last month, and 44 cents more than at this time last year.
“Local gasoline demand continues to be strong while refineries are making less fuel as they convert to production of winter-blend gasoline that can be sold in pumps starting Nov. 1,” said Auto Club spokesman Jeffrey Spring. “Those factors have prevented prices from dropping.”
The Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline. As of 9 a.m. on Sept. 20, averages are:
