CA GAS WATCH

Gas prices dropped slightly over the past week in most Southern California metro areas, according to the Auto Club’s Weekend Gas Watch. The average price for self-serve regular gasoline in California is $4.38, which is four cents lower than a week ago and 40 cents lower than a year ago today. The average national price is $3.03, which is three cents lower than a week ago.

The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $4.42 per gallon, which is two cents less than last week and 47 cents less than last year. In San Diego, the average price is $4.51, which is also two cents less than last week and 40 cents lower than this time last year.

On the Central Coast, the average price is $4.43, which is two cents lower than last week and 47 cents lower than last year. In Riverside, the average per-gallon price is $4.30, which is three cents lower than last week and 42 cents lower than a year ago. In Bakersfield, the $4.32 average price is ten cents less than last week and 67 cents lower than a year ago today.

“The Los Angeles average gas price is now at its lowest level since December 2022,” said Auto Club spokesperson Doug Shupe. “It’s hard to say how much lower they will drop, but Southern California gas prices often decrease during the month of December.”

The Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline. As of 9 a.m. on Dec. 5, averages are:
