Southern California gas prices continued their downward trend over the Thanksgiving holiday, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California's Weekend Gas Watch. The retail statewide average is $3.75 a gallon for regular unleaded, which is eight cents lower than last week.
The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $3.79 per gallon, which is down seven cents from last week, 34 cents lower than a month ago, and 27 cents higher than last year. In San Diego, the average price is $3.78, which is six cents less than last Thursday, 28 cents less than last month, and 29 cents higher than last year. On the Central Coast, the average price is $3.88, which is four cents lower than last week, 28 cents lower than last month, and 36 cents higher than last year. In Riverside, the average per-gallon price is $3.70, which is seven cents lower than last week, 33 cents lower than last month, and 29 cents higher than last year. In San Bernardino, the $3.77 average price is six cents lower than last week, 28 cents lower than last month, and 29 cents higher than a year ago today.
“The cheapest gas prices in Southern California are typically found at membership stores, but there are a couple of Arco stations now charging $3.27 a gallon for regular unleaded,” said Auto Club spokesman Jeffrey Spring. “There’s a wide range of gas prices right now, so we urge consumers to shop around using a tool such as the free AAA Mobile app.”
The Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline. As of 9 a.m. on Dec. 5, averages are:
