Gas prices continued to move very little for the third straight week, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California's Weekend Gas Watch. The retail statewide average is $3.29 a gallon for regular unleaded, which is one cent higher than last week.
The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $3.35 per gallon, which is unchanged from last week, six cents higher than last month, and eight cents lower than last year. In San Diego, the average price is $3.31, which is one cent higher than last Thursday, seven cents higher than last month, and eight cents lower than this time last year. On the Central Coast, the average price is $3.37, which is one cent higher than last week, eight cents higher than last month, and five cents lower than last year. In Riverside, the average per-gallon price is $3.26, which is one cent higher than last week, eight cents higher than last month, and ten cents lower than last year. In San Bernardino, the $3.30 average price is one cent higher than last week, eight cents higher than last month, and seven cents lower than a year ago today.
“The California Energy Commission reported Wednesday that Southern California gasoline supplies are now well below average levels for the past five years, but so far that news has not dramatically affected wholesale prices,” said Auto Club spokesman Jeffrey Spring. “Oil Price Information Service analysts say the low supply level is likely due to both planned and unplanned maintenance at local refineries.”
The Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline. As of 9 a.m. on Feb. 28, averages are:
