(LOS ANGELES, Nov. 12, 2010) – The Automobile Club of Southern California is now registering students for several of its teen driving school locations. Beginning next week and continuing through the end of the year, the school's "30/10" program (30 hours of classroom education and 10 hours of in-car instruction) is available at a $50 discount when members sign up by Dec. 30.
The discount is being offered at all 20 Auto Club Driving School locations. Class openings for 2010 are still available at: Bakersfield, Burbank, Diamond Bar, El Monte, Encino, Long Beach, Riverside, Santa Clarita, and Torrance.
Classes are also booking quickly for 2011, and members who register their teen for either a 2010 or 2011 class by Dec. 30 will receive the $50 discount, according to Administrator George Tamayo of the Auto Club’s Driving School.
Auto Club Driving School locations with 2011 class availability only include: Anaheim, Anaheim Hills, Arcadia, Costa Mesa, Escondido, Grossmont, Murrieta, Rancho Santa Margarita, Redlands, San Diego, and West Los Angeles.
The driving school uses a curriculum based on research of teen driving crashes. The licensed program is taught by state-licensed instructors who are trained by the Auto Club. The curriculum is focused on safety and student participation with core elements designed to address the top four causes of teen collisions.
Parents and teens attend a one-hour orientation together on the first night of class. After that, students continue attending class, and parents stay tuned in through feedback and coaching after each in-car lesson. "Many parents tell us they're learning right along with their kids," said Tamayo.
"The Auto Club offers the driver education program to help parents and teens successfully navigate the Graduated Driver Licensing laws and become safe drivers," he added.
