Editors note: Weekend Gas Watch is being published today due to the Thanksgiving holiday
Oil prices continued plunging in the last week, bringing continued relief at the pump to Southern Californians and drivers across the country as they hit the road for holiday trips, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California's Weekend Gas Watch. The retail statewide average is $3.63 a gallon for regular unleaded, which is four cents lower than last week.
The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $3.66 per gallon, which is five cents lower than last week, 21 cents lower than last month, and 41 cents higher than last year. In San Diego, the average price is $3.63, which is five cents lower than last Thursday, 21 cents lower than last month, and 41 cents higher than this time last year. On the Central Coast, the average price is $3.66, which is five cents lower than week, 22 cents lower than last month, and 41 cents higher than last year. In Riverside, the average per-gallon price is $3.57, which is five cents lower than last week, 23 cents lower than last month, and 39 cents more than this time last year.
“With a near-record 4.2 million Southern Californians traveling over this long holiday weekend and gas prices continuing to drop, it’s important to shop around virtually for gas prices with an app such as AAA Mobile to make sure you’re not overpaying for gasoline,” said Auto Club spokesman Jeffrey Spring.
