Gas prices continued hovering in most areas during the past week, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California's Weekend Gas Watch. The retail statewide average is $3.66 a gallon for regular unleaded, unchanged for the second straight week.
The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $3.68 per gallon, which is a penny higher than last week, seven cents lower than last month, and 76 cents higher than last year. In San Diego, the average price is $3.66, which is unchanged from last Thursday, eight cents less than last month, and 77 cents higher than this time last year. On the Central Coast, the average price is $3.74, which is the same as last week, five cents lower than last month, and 77 cents higher than last year. In Riverside, the average per-gallon price is $3.60, which is one cent lower than last week, nine cents lower than last month, and 75 cents more than at this time last year.
“Los Angeles wholesale gasoline prices have fluctuated within a 20-cent price gap since June 1and haven’t given much downward momentum to pump prices for nearly two weeks,” said Auto Club spokesman Jeffrey Spring. “However, Oil Price Information Service reported today that according to the California Energy Commission, the state’s gasoline stockpiles have significantly increased in the past week. That may lead to retail price decreases provided no other factors counteract that healthy supply.”
The Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline. As of 9 a.m. on July 12, averages are:
