Auto Club: Another Week Of Dropping Gas Prices In The New Year

CA GAS WATCH

Southern California gas prices continued dropping in the last week after two straight months of price drops in most areas, according to the Auto Club’s Weekend Gas Watch. California’s $4.21 average statewide price is two cents lower than last week and 18 cents lower than a year ago today. The average national price is $2.84, which is three cents higher than a week ago and 24 cents lower than on this date last year.

The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $4.35 per gallon, which is three cents lower than last week and ten cents lower than last year. In San Diego, the average price is $4.39, which is three cents lower than last week and 11 cents lower than the price this time last year.

On the Central Coast, the average price is $4.31, which is four cents less than last week and 11 cents lower than last year. In Riverside, the average per-gallon price is $4.12, which is one cent lower than last week and 19 cents lower than a year ago. In Bakersfield, the $4.25 average price is five cents lower than last week and two cents lower than a year ago today.

“Drivers should continue to aggressively shop for the lowest gas prices, which today are less than $3.60 in most Southern California areas, to take advantage of these lower prices while they last,” said Auto Club spokesperson Doug Shupe. “Use a tool such as the free AAA Mobile app to find the cheapest nearby gas prices.”

The Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline. As of 9 a.m. on Jan. 15, averages are:
