(ARCADIA, June 20, 2009) – The Automobile Club of Southern California has opened the newest location of its driving school for teens in Arcadia with the first classes fully registered with students. Registrations are now being accepted for a third class beginning in October. Comprehensive driver education package programs for teens are available at all locations.
The driving school uses a curriculum based on research of actual teen driving crashes. The program, taught by state-licensed instructors, is focused on safety and student participation with core elements designed to address the top four causes of teen collisions. Parents and teens attend a one-hour orientation class together. After that, the students continue attending class, and parents stay tuned in through feedback and coaching after each in-car lesson. “Many parents tell us they’re learning right along with their kids,” said Kathy Downing, manager of the Auto Club’s Driver Services.
“The Auto Club co-sponsored California’s Graduated Driver Licensing Law, which requires teen drivers to gain real driving experience under controlled conditions before obtaining a full license,” said Downing. “The Auto Club started offering the driver education program to help parents and teens gain this experience from qualified instructors.
Students who successfully complete one of the Auto Club Driving School programs receive a free dependent associate Auto Club membership and may qualify for an automobile insurance discount when added to an auto insurance policy through the Auto Club’s affiliated insurance company.
The Auto Club’s Arcadia office is located at 420 E. Huntington Drive, Arcadia, 91066. For more information or to enroll, contact the Auto Club by calling toll-free, 1-877-428-2277. Registration and advance payment are required.
