Snow-weary travelers from Eastern and Midwestern states are escaping to Southern California in droves over the next few months, making greater Los Angeles and San Diego the No. 2 and No. 3 spring travel destinations in the country, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California.
AAA compiled its top spring destinations through data obtained from AAA.com hotel bookings nationwide for those traveling between March 20, 2015 and June 20, 2015.
“While Southern Californians are booking spring trips to destinations such as Hawaii, Las Vegas, and Mexico - and also taking advantage of available spring bargains to Europe - much of the rest of the U.S. is planning to take advantage of the warm weather and numerous attractions here,” said Filomena Andre, the Auto Club’s vice president for travel products and services.
AAA Travel’s top spring travel destinations, based on AAA.com hotel bookings, are:
- Orlando, FL
- Los Angeles/Anaheim
- San Diego
- Myrtle Beach, SC
- Miami, FL
- Fort Lauderdale, FL
- Washington, D.C.
- New York
- Seattle
- San Francisco
Theme parks continue to be a popular vacation option, as evidenced by Orlando and Los Angeles holding top spots on this year’s list.
