The Automobile Club of Southern California will join Ward Service, one of the oldest family-run automotive businesses in California, and a AAA-Approved Auto Repair facility, to mark 90 years serving customers and Auto Club members on Saturday with an old-time celebration honoring its heritage.
The event will be held at the repair shop, 130 Railroad Ave., Monrovia. The Ward family will celebrate with a classic car and motorcycle display, celebrity guests, cupcakes, popcorn, and snow cones along with rock music. More event details can be obtained by calling Ward Service at (626) 357-8080.
Ward Service’s history spans economic booms and recessions, war-time rationing, fuel shortages, major advances in vehicle technology and a business relocation to make way for the 210 freeway, according to the Ward family. The company’s history also encompasses being an Auto Club tow contractor from 1923 to 2001, and then its current designation as a AAA-Approved Auto Repair facility since 1993. The repair company, run by the fourth generation Ward family, earned the 2009 AAA Quality Award for customer service.
“The Approved Auto Repair program examines all aspects of a repair shop's operation and awards approval to only the best shops in the business,” said Avo Asdourian, the Auto Club’s Approved Auto Repair Program Specialist. “The Ward family has done this consistently year-after-year for 20 years which is not an easy feat,” he added.
“Ward Service has outlasted many of its competitors by holding fast to its family values and strong work ethic,” said Tom Ward, third generation owner. “When you employ your family to run a business, you get an extra level of commitment.”
Ward Service’s AAA-Approved Auto Repair certification means that the repair facility has met the Auto Club's strict AAA-Approved Auto Repair Program criteria for technician certification and customer satisfaction. Auto Club approved shops also offer a wide range of automotive services and are equipped with the high-tech equipment needed to repair today's sophisticated vehicles.
Auto Club members get extra benefits from approved repair shops which can be found by asking for a free copy of the AAA Approved Auto Repair Facilities Directory in any Auto Club branch, calling (800) 713-0003, or clicking on www.AAA.com. Benefits include free inspections when a member's vehicle is in the shop for any paid repair and a minimum 24-month/24,000 mile warranty. Auto Club members also get guaranteed written estimates, return of replaced parts on request and Auto Club-mediated repair dispute–arbitration.
