George’s Sierra Shell in Fontana, owned by Doug Whiteman, has been recently named one of two Southern California auto repair facilities on Motor Age magazine’s top 10 auto repair shops for 2014. The other repair shop that made the publication’s annual top list is RM Automotive in Northridge, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California. Both are featured in this month’s issue of the magazine.
Whiteman is an Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certified Master Technician, a Certified Undercar Specialist and the 2008 Los Angeles ASE Technician of the Year. George’s Sierra Shell is also a AAA Approved Auto Repair facility since 2008, a NAPA Auto Care Center, and a part of the Automotive Training institute (ATI).
The repair facility has been in business for 42 years with a valet entrance, three service bays and plans to add two more bays, according to the Auto Club. It is located at 9684 Sierra Ave. and can be reached by calling (909) 543-1263.
RM Automotive in Northridge also made the magazine’s top shop list. This shop is co-owned by Mike Wright and Reed Galloway, both ASE Certified Master Technicians. RM Automotive is a AAA Approved Auto Repair Facility, has 24-hour online appointment scheduling and complimentary shuttle. Wright is a national winner for Honda America’s Top Technician, and a Honda Gold Level Technician. Galloway is a Honda Silver Level Technician. The shop is located at 19248 Roscoe Blvd. It can be reached by calling (818) 709-4343.
As Auto Club Approved Auto Repair facilities, the two repair shops have met the Auto Club's strict AAA-Approved Auto Repair Program criteria for technician certification and customer satisfaction. AAA approved shops also offer a wide range of automotive services and are equipped with the high-tech equipment needed to repair today's sophisticated vehicles.
"The AAA Approved Auto Repair program examines a repair shop's operation and awards approval to only the best shops in the business," said Dave Skaien, the Auto Club’s Approved Auto Repair Program Development Manager. “For these repair shops to be named to a national industry list such as this speaks very well of their capabilities and customer service.”
Any motorist can look to the Auto Club's Approved Auto Repair logo as an assurance of the facility's reliability, but Auto Club members get extra benefits from approved shops. AAA members receive a free maintenance inspection upon request in conjunction with any other paid repair and a minimum 24-month/24,000 mile warranty. Auto Club members also get guaranteed written estimates, return of replaced parts on request and Auto Club-mediated repair dispute–arbitration. Additionally, many AAA Approved Auto Repair shops participate in the AAA Discounts program, providing discounts on repair and maintenance to AAA members.
