(LOS ANGELES, Nov. 14, 2006) — Despite price increases of three to eight cents during the past week, the average price of a gallon of gasoline dropped in most Southern California communities between October and November, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California’s monthly Fuel Gauge Report.
The Southern California November average price for regular self-serve gasoline is $2.498, compared to $2.634 on Oct. 10. Since setting a record high of $3.417 on May 16, the average price of regular gasoline has fallen 92 cents in the Southland.
“Prices in California have risen somewhat in the past week due to refinery maintenance and subsequent reduced production in the state,” said Auto Club spokesperson Carol Thorp. “Oil continues to trade at or below $60 per barrel.”
Statewide, the average price for November is $2.475, down from $2.595 in October. The lowest average price in the state is in La Habra, where regular is selling for $2.320. Santa Barbara reports the state’s highest average price at $2.790.
Nationally, the average price is $2.229 down slightly from $2.232 in October. The state with the highest gas price average is Hawaii at $2.859. New Jersey has the lowest average price of $2.046.
