Auto Club: All Major Local Cities Under $3 Per GallonJuly 16, 2009 | Category: Weekly Fuel Prices Report
(LOS ANGELES, July 16, 2009) – Southern California gas prices continued to head downward at a good penny-per-day clip over the past week, bringing average prices under $3 a gallon for all major local regions, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California’s Weekend Gas Watch.
The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $2.869 per gallon, which is 6.3 cents less than last week, 15 cents lower than last month, and $1.65 less than last year. In San Diego, the price is $2.834, which is 8.7 cents less than last week’s price, 19 cents below last month, and $1.65 lower than last year. On the Central Coast, the average price is $2.96, down 6.2 cents from last week, nine cents below last month, and $1.64 below last year. In the Inland Empire, the average per gallon price is $2.857, which is 6.9 cents less than last week, 15 cents less than last month, and $1.64 less than last year. “This is the fourth straight week of gas price decreases, and each week we’ve seen prices drop a little faster,” said Auto Club spokesperson Jeffrey Spring. “Plentiful supplies and flat demand are giving drivers a break and bringing us July gas prices at levels we haven’t seen since 2005.” The Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline.
