(LOS ANGELES – Dec. 8, 2011) –Southland gas prices continued downward at penny-a-day clip over the past week, giving consumers further relief from the $3.75-plus prices they’ve been paying for most of the year, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California’s Weekend Gas Watch.
The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $3.627 per gallon, which is six cents lower than last week, 24 cents lower than last month, and 40 cents higher than last year. In San Diego, the price is $3.619, a decrease of 5.2 cents from last week, 24 cents below last month, and 38 cents higher than last year. On the Central Coast, the average price is $3.678, down 8.1 cents from last week, 23 cents lower than a month ago, and 41 cents above last year. In the Inland Empire, the average per gallon price is $3.615, down 6.5 cents from last week, 22 cents lower than last month, and 42 cents more than last year.
“When gas prices fall, there tends to be a greater difference between the lowest and highest prices in most cities, so it really benefits consumers to shop around for gas prices,” said Auto Club spokesperson Jeffrey Spring. “For example, according to today’s AAA.com/TripTik and TripTik Mobile app, gas prices in Santa Monica currently range between $3.48 and $3.90 a gallon, and in San Diego the difference ranges from $3.46 to $4 a gallon.”
