(LOS ANGELES, June 25, 2009) – After seven straight weeks of increases, Southern California average gas prices in most regions remained flat or fell slightly lower, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California’s Weekend Gas Watch.
The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $3.014 per gallon, which is nine-tenths of a cent less than last week, 37 cents higher than last month, and $1.61 less than last year. In San Diego, the price is $3.028, which is about two cents less than last week’s price, 36 cents above last month, and $1.59 lower than last year. On the Central Coast, the average price is $3.055, down four-tenths of a cent from last week, 36 cents above last month, and $1.64 below last year. In the Inland Empire, the average per gallon price is $3.006, which is 1.3 cents less than last week, 37 cents more than last month, and $1.60 less than last year.
“After racing through the $3 level last week, gasoline prices hit the brakes this week,” said Auto Club spokesperson Jeffrey Spring. “For many weeks, we’ve seen price increases that were not in line with lower relative demand and high supplies. We’ll have to see if this moderation continues through the July Fourth holiday next week.”
