Auto Club Discounts Can Help With Health-Related Expenses During Tough Times

Insurance & Consumer Tips
LOS ANGELES, Feb. 12, 2009) The economic downturn has caused medical benefit losses for thousands of Southern Californians, and many more people may be considering personal budget cutbacks in areas that are vital to their health and well-being. The Automobile Club of Southern California is reminding members that discounts on everyday medical and wellness expenses such as prescriptions, vitamins and eyeglasses are available through the Auto Club’s Show Your Card & Save program

Auto Club members can save an average of 35 percent off the retail price of generic prescriptions and an average of 15 percent off the retail price on name-brand prescription drugs at more than 59,000 participating pharmacies nationwide. This discount also applies to prescriptions for pets that can be filled at a traditional pharmacy and lifestyle drugs typically not covered by insurance. Additional savings are available for mail order prescriptions.
AAA prescription savings is not insurance, discounts cannot be combined with any other medical prescription coverage or discount program, and savings are only available at participating pharmacies. Members can get more information and obtain a free Prescription Savings card online or by calling 1-866-AAA-SAVE (1-866-222-7283).
Many other Show Your Card and Save partners offer products promoting health. Auto Club members who wear eyeglasses can often pay for the cost of their membership with the savings offered at LensCrafters, Pearle Vision, Sears Optical, and Target Optical. Auto Club members save 20 percent at Reebok and Rockport outlets, which offer a full line of fitness gear.
