Gas prices moved by just a penny or less in most areas over the past week, remaining 15 to 20 cents below their highest levels of the year, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California's Weekend Gas Watch. The retail state average is $4.122 a gallon for regular today, 1.4 cents less than last week.

The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $4.159 per gallon, which is 1.2 cents more than last week, 14 cents lower than last month, and 16 cents higher than last year. In San Diego, the average price is $4.124, which is nine-tenths of one cent above last week, 14 cents lower than last month, and 15 cents higher than last year. On the Central Coast, the average price is $4.168, down three-tenths of one cent from last week, 12 cents lower than a month ago, and 10 cents more than last year. In the Inland Empire, the average per-gallon price is $4.111, down three-tenths of a cent from last week, 16 cents less than last month, and 15 cents more than last year.

“The good news for drivers is that local wholesale prices have dropped for the last four days in a row, so pump prices should start dropping again if that trend continues,” said Auto Club spokesman Jeffrey Spring. “So far this year, local drivers have paid about 4 cents less per gallon of gas than they did during the first six months of 2013.”

The Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline. As of 9 a.m. on June 5, averages are:
