Southern California gas prices dropped for the fifth straight week on news of continued ample supply in the region, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California's Weekend Gas Watch. The retail statewide average is $3.66 a gallon for regular unleaded, which is two cents lower than last week.

The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $3.66 per gallon, which is four cents lower than last week, 14 cents lower than last month, and two cents higher than last year. In San Diego, the average price is $3.65, which is two cents lower than last Thursday, 11 cents below last month, and four cents higher than this time last year. On the Central Coast, the average price is $3.73, which is two cents less than last week, 11 cents lower than last month, and two cents higher than last year. In Riverside, the average per-gallon price is $3.57, which is three cents lower than last week, 11 cents lower than last month, and three cents higher than last year. In San Bernardino, the $3.62 average price is two cents lower than last Thursday, nine cents lower than last month, and five cents higher than a year ago today.

"Oil prices are down over the last month because of worries over the trade war with China and its economic effects,” said Auto Club spokesman Jeffrey Spring. “If Southern California gasoline supplies stay healthy, the lower oil prices are likely to push down pump prices further in the coming weeks.”

The Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline. As of 9 a.m. on Aug. 8, averages are:
